Costa Rica

There are about 50,000 Chinese in Costa Rica. They came from Canton in the early years. Most of them work in restaurants, grocery stores, pubs, and hotels. Later on, more Chinese from Taiwan came for business. Besides Catholicism, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, and I-Kuan-Tao are very active among the Chinese recently.

CCM has missionaries working with the Chinese since the mid-80s and expanded into the Spanish-speaking Chinese in the mid-90s. Due to the big increase of immigrants from Mainland China recently, our missionaries started Basic Conversational Spanish classes which attracted more than 140 students in 2003 alone. Now they concentrate on training local Christian leaders to take over the ministries which they started.

"Our mission is to preach the Gospel and plant churches for the Chinese in Latin America. There are so many Chinese spread out in different countries and we are in great need of more workers. We pray for more missionaries to come and share the Good News together."
