LEONA CHOY

"After we receive God's comfort through His Word, then we are asked to give this comfort to someone else."

Leona's parents were of Czech descent, and she was born and spent her formative years in America's heartland, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Ted and Leona met as classmates in Wheaton College, IL.

Ted was born in China, grew up in Hong Kong, and took his seminary work at what is now Trinity Evangelical Seminary before it was called that, and earned his graduate degree at the University of Iowa.

After church, mission and educational work in Hong Kong and Singapore, the Choys, with three of their sons who were born while they served in Hong Kong, returned to work among Chinese university students and scholars in North America. Ted and Leona were co-founders of Ambassadors For Christ, Inc. Leona's quarter century of ministry with AFC was administrative and editorial.

Leona made fourteen trips to the People's Republic of China, sometimes in the company of Ted, other times as guide/escort for groups of Americans traveling to China. Together they made a number of journeys to encourage the underground church and also to find positions for English teachers in China's schools. These travels enriched her research and experiences to write the book Touching China.

Ted died after 46 years of marriage with Leona and since then Leona has devoted full time to her writing, publishing, and speaking ministry. She serves as editorial director of the ministry she and her son, Rick, founded called Golden Morning Publishing.

Leona is president of radio station WTRM-FM (Southern Light Gospel Music Network) also established with their son, Rick, in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She produced her own daily radio program for five years on the station. Her recent book "Living it UP" contains some of the best of her programs.

Writer, editor and collaborator of nearly thirty books and many foreign language editions of her published books, Leona's articles have appeared in scores of different periodicals.

Four adult sons and ten grandchildren keep Leona busy when she is not at her computer or traveling in speaking ministry.

During her early teens, Leona accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. It was the turning point of her life, after which she committed her life to prepare for full time Christian service. In spite of hardships and adversities, bereavement, and cancer, Leona testifies that it has been a long life of real joy, satisfaction, and adventure in following the Lord.
