Wishing & Praying

There seems to be a common desire that is shared among different cultures, no matter which part of the world people live. It reflects that men are not in control of our own destiny. Don’t blow out the birthday candles until you make a wish! When you see a falling star, quickly make it wish! People light a lantern with written wishes and put it up to the sky in Taiwan. There are wishing tress in Hong Kong and wishing fountain or well in Europe and USA. I saw thousands and thousands of iron locks and wooden plaques hanging along roadsides in the mountains of China, all wishing for health, wealth, and happiness. When I look at these names and wishes, I can only offer a prayer on their behalf.

Some people think these are businessmen’s schemes to make money, others think it is superstitious even Satanic and should be avoided. No matter what, missionary continues to go to the darkness, the helpless, and the lost to proclaim the good news that they can pray to the living and loving God instead of just making wishes.
